Catherine Wilson Center to hold Love Your Body Day By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs The Lindsey Wilson College Catherine Wilson Center participate in national "Love Your Body Day" next week. The Lindsey Wilson event will be held at noon CT on Monday, Oct. 20.The national day - which is has been sponsored for the last 11 years by the National Organization for Women - was created in response to unhealthy and exploitive images of women in the media. The day is designed to help women become better-informed consumers, and also promote positive, healthy images of women and girls, protest harmful and offensive advertisements, and raise awareness about women's health issues. According to the National Eating Disorders Association, about 80 percent of U.S. women express dissatisfaction with their appearance; the "Love Your Body" campaign aims to reverse that trend.. At Lindsey Wilson, "Love Your Body Day" will be observed at a noon CT ceremony in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. The event will include a presentation by Lindsey Wilson Assistant Professor of Counseling & Human Development Tammy Hatfield, who will talk about "Sex, Stereotypes and Beauty: The ABCs and Ds of Commercial Images of Women." The talk is free and open to the public.. For more information about the national celebration of "Love Your Body Day," go to www.loveyourbody.nowfoundation.org.
