Rain turns Lindsey Wilson breast cancer march into a rally

By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs

The arrival of rain on Wednesday forced Lindsey Wilson College to turn its annual Breast Cancer Awareness March into a rally to raise awareness about the disease. Sponsored by the colleges Catherine Wilson Center, a march from campus to downtown Columbia was planned.

But because of rain, the march was turned into a midday rally in Biggers Sports Center. About 50 people gathered inside the sports center, where they sported pinked shirts, wore pink ribbons and held pink balloons.

Pink symbolizes support for finding a cure for breast cancer. The rallys keynote speaker was LWC Associate Professor of Human Services and Counseling Angelia Bryant, a cancer survivor who is also associate dean of the colleges School of Professional Counseling.
