Circle R reconstruction: High walker Pete Gabehart

2008-09-22 - Russell Road, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
SPRY AS A YOUNG SQUIRREL in a HICKERNUT TREE: Pete Gabehart of Huddleston Construction Company, was walking around the rooftop being rebuilt on the new Circle R restaurant with the carefree nonchalance of a Mohawk Indian high walker on the steel framework of a skyscraper. The full completion is expected to take place in the spring, in time for the 2009 tourist season. A Today, September 22, 2008 photo.

The eight mile mountain bike competition trail is called "brutal" and "punishing" by the race organizers. The Lindsey Wilson Mountain Bike team was host for the Mid South Conference event, which drew some 70 entrants.

2008-09-22 - Holladay Place, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
The light was on yellow just before going to red as the new four-way stop light on KY 61 South at the intersection with KY 80 (the Edmonton Road) and the new Wal-Mart Drive into Holladay Place. Ironically, the four way stoplight was activated on the same day as the Courier-Journal announced the devastating news that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is cancelling a mostly Federally funded upgrade of KY 61 between the interchange at KY 61 South and Sparksville, KY.
