Asbury UMC celebrates 105 years of ministry Cal Turner, Jr., is featured speaker; Congressman Ed Whitfield and Rev. David McAllister-Wilson deliver remarks. Four photos with story By Duane Bonifer Asbury United Methodist Church celebrated "105 years in ministry" on Sunday morning, September 14, 2008. More than 150 people gathered at the church at 9600 New Columbia Road on the Adair-Taylor County line to celebrate its ministry in Southcentral Kentucky. Cal Turner Jr., chairman of the Cal Turner Family Foundation, Lindsey Wilson College trustee and retired CEO, chairman and president of Dollar General Corp., was the featured speaker. The congregation also heard from Rev. David McAllister-Wilson, president of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.; and U.S. Congressman Ed Whitfield, who has represented Kentucky's 1st District since 1994.
