Reader is shocked at lack of coverage of Sept. 11, 2001

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I am shocked that there was not one mention of the events on this day in 2001.

On a day that changed America as we once knew it, whether in a big city or small town, you choose to ignore the obvious and put in an article about Lance Burton. While this is probably important since he is from Adair County, it still doesn't mean you should just ignore this day.

When patriotism is at an all time low don't you think that some kind of remembrance of a day that shocked the entire country should be recognized? Not only by this publication, but by the officials of this town?

I can't imagine any of your advertisers complaining that on one day out of the year this magazine commemorates the awful tragedy that happened on September 11, 2001.

If you think that what happened on that day hasn't affected this small town, Mr. Waggener, you are sadly mistaken. How many young men and women from this town have ended up in Iraq or Afghanistan?

Right here below this contact form are the words "We welcome your comments." While I doubt that this letter will see the light of day in your magazine, I would feel remiss as a citizen of this great country not to call you on this glaring omission. It is to late to correct today's publication, I hope that on September 11, 2009 there will be a remembrance and an acknowledgment of the events that occurred on September 11, 2001.

s/Mrs. Cynthia Harvey

Thanks for your remembrance. Sorry that we didn't get to it. Local always trumps in this local publication, and we didn't get every local item on line we wanted to print. We received no local letters on the subject until you sent yours. But your letter is seeing "the light of day" in this magazine. -EW
