Rick Gage to speak at the Ransdell, Wed., Sept. 17, 2008
Gage is founder of Go Tell Crusades, Inc.
By Rachel Crenshaw, CU student news writer
Rick Gage, founder of Go Tell Ministries, will be speaking for Campbellsville University's chapel Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in the Ransdell Chapel at 10amET/9:00amCT Gage will also be speaking for CU's First Class
Gage's ministry, the Go Tell Crusade, will be hosting several events for the Campbellsville-Taylor County community September 14-17, 2008. The crusade will feature evangelistic messages, worship services and guest artists such as Rick Stanley, Elvis Presley's step-brother.
"Campbellsville University wanted to be a participant in the efforts of the crusade," said Ed Pavy, director of campus ministries at Campbellsville University. "Therefore, we thought including Gage as a guest speaker for chapel was a great opportunity for students to hear him speak and thus be inspired to participate in the crusade."
According to the biography on his web site, gotellministries.com, in 1986, Gage surrendered his life to full-time ministry after walking away from a promising coaching career in football. A few years later Gage became the founder of Go Tell Crusades, Inc. Ever since he has been conducting evangelistic events around the world and has seen tens of thousands make public professions of faith to Jesus Christ.
Go Tell Crusades statement of faith said, "We believe regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for the salvation of lost and sinful man, and that repentance from sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to come into a relationship with God. We believe eternal life is received by faith -- that is, trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation."
Gage's Go Tell Youth Camps began in 1989 reaching multitudes of various students and youth groups across the country. As a direct result, thousands of students have made commitments to Jesus Christ and the full-time ministry.
In addition, Gage has presented his commended "On Track" assembly program to more than 2 million teenagers in the nation's schools. This program engages on the addictions of drugs and alcohol. Gage has also appeared on many Tv and radio programs.
Gage is the author of "Download" a Bible study that targets and inspires young people to grow in their Christian walk and faith. He is also the author of "More Than a Game" his autobiography.
Gage, his wife, Lynne, and their daughters, Sara and Anna, live near Atlanta, GA.
"He is a very find evangelist and gifted preacher," said John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president. "Gage has been very active in the community and has held summer camps at our campus for the last two years. We thought he would convey the spirit of a Christian revival to our campus."
