Lindsey Wilson Athletic Complex

MIKE NEWTON, Director of Maintenance at Lindsey Wilson College, in blue and white shirt, foreground, and Travis Kimbler, in red shirt, talk as workmen scale the giant retaining at the new athletic complex between Russell Road and the Louie B. Nunn Parkway. The concrete work is by Danny Myer's American Poured Walls of Columbia, KY. The 200 plus yards of concrete is fed into the forms by a Reggie Stringer Concrete Pumping truck fed from a Pyles Concrete mixer driven, this morning, by Ted Turner of Columbia, KY. The retaining was was needed to protect a new 12" water line the property and will serve as part of the back wall of the stadium, Mr. Newton said. "When this wall is finished," he said, we'll really start rolling." Forms by be removed as early as Tuesday, September 9, 2008.

Recycling Trailer arrives at center

BILL PADGETT, a member of the staff at the Adair County Recycling Center, said that the new recycling trailer needs only one label to be ready to put into use. The bin closest to the end will be labeled "PLASTIC," he said. County Judge Ann Melton said that the next step will be to introduce the trailer to people in the county. She's hoping to get Wal-Mart or another major Jamestown Street retailer to allow the recycling trailer to be stationed there, at a central point, to allow people from all parts of the county to use it. Later this first trailer will be rotated to community points to including outlying communities in the county. Adair County's Recycling program has been a resounding success, with every major government, institution, and business entity, with the exception of the City of Columbia, enthusiastically participating.
