Obituary: Irene Hutcherson, 92, retired teacher

Mrs. Hutcherson was a charter member of Southside Christian Church of Campbellsville, KY, and a former teacher and homemaker

Irene Hutcherson, 92, a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center (formerly of the Mt. Gilead Community) passed away Monday, September 01, 2008 at 4:40 A.M. at Summit Manor.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Elmer Wheatley and Bro. Billy Minor the officiating clergy.


She was the daughter of the late Jerry and Myrtle Goode Chelf of Adair County. She was the widow of James Colvin Hutcherson, who preceded her in death on December 26, 1992.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Carolyn Hancock and husband Max of Greensburg, KY

  • Two grandsons: Barkley Hancock and wife Brandy, and Kirby Hancock and wife Robin

  • Three great grandchildren: Sarah, Dylan and Hayden Hancock

  • She was preceded in death by a brother Presley Chelf and a sisterOkla Russell.
    Mrs. Hutcherson was a former teacher and homemaker, and a charter member of the Southside Christian Church in Campbellsville, KY.

    Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery, Columbia, KY.

    The family request visitation after 4:00pm, Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
