One person taken into custody in Sand Lick Rd shooting POLICE REPORTS KSP, Adair Sheriff's Department investigating. Name will not be released until next of kin notified One person has been taken into custody and is being questioned by Detective Slinker and the Adair County Sheriff's Department in connection with the shooting and death of a man early this morning. Around 1:30amCT on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, the Columbia State Police Post received a call from Adair County Jail about a shooting which occurred 12 miles South of Columbia on Sand Lick Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they contacted Adair County Coroner Rick Wilson, who pronounced the victim, a white male, deceased. The name of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next of kin. Detective Israel Slinker of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, is the lead investigator in this case.
