Obituary: James Willard Nokes, 74 COLUMBIAMAGAZINE.COM OBITUARIES Mr. Nokes was a member of a respected Adair County family. He was a retired truck driver who earned the Million Miler Award. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a Mason and a U.S. Army Veteran who will be accorded military rites by VFW Post 6097. James Willard Nokes, 74, 115 Music Lane, Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, August 25, 208, at 2:32pm, at his home, after an illness. The funeral service is Thursday, August 28, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. William R. Davenport officiating. He was the son of the late James Arnie and Mary Willin England Nokes. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Estes Nokes, Columbia, KY, and the following:
Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery with military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097. Masonic rites will be conducted Wednesday evening at 7:00pm. by the Columbia Masonic Lodge #96 at the funeral home. Visitation will be after 4:00pm, Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
