Thinks time of day for tax hearing outrageous Comment on Only four people present at City Property Tax increase hearing Ed, It is outrageous that the city council feels the need to hold this meeting when most citizens of Columbia are at work and unable to attend. I for one cannot just leave work in the middle of the morning to attend a meeting, I have to work, especially if they feel the need to increase my taxes. s/Holly Caldwell I agree with you that it is a bad time of the day to hold the meeting, but would like to point out that the time of the meeting was not set by City Council, but by the Executive Branch, Mayor Patrick R. Bell and City Clerk Carolyn Edwards. It might be better to direct your feelings toward to Mayor Bell and City Clerk Carolyn Edwards. City Hall's number is (270) 384-2501.Don't call or go during your lunch hour, though. The offices are closed from 12 noon to 1:00pm. You will be able to be at the City Council meeting which decides the matter. Right now, expect that to be on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at 6:00pmCT, in the cramped, uncomfortable City Council meeting room at 116 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. And you can contact the city council members now to let you know how you feel. They are Charles Grimsley, Craig Dean, Linda Waggener (270) 250-2854, Edwin Taylor, Joe Moore, and June Parson. We'll post any other council member's numbers as they request us to do so. This story was posted on 2008-08-26 17:33:35
