BJ Fudge is Democratic 51st Dist. Rep. Candidate Filing complete. Candidate receives total of 6,149.76 votes; 4,771.8 from Taylor Co.; 1377.95 from Adair County from Democratic Party Central Committees who name Fudge to replace Doug Mullins, who withdrew By Ed Waggener With just hours to spare, the nominee of the Democratic Parties of Adair and Taylor County, Billy Joe Fudge, Columbia, became an official candidate this afternoon, Tuesday, August 26, 2008, to oppose John BAM Carney, the Republican party nominee in the race for the 51st Kentucky House of Representatives seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Russ Mobley of Campbellsville, KY. "I want everybody in Adair and Taylor County to know one thing: I will be a full time, year-round legislator." "I'll be going to Frankfort with one top priority, the Heartland Parkway," he said. "as far as I am concerned, that is the main cog in the wheel of economic development for South Central Kentucky."He also said that environmental issues will be a top priority. "Everybody knows how I am on green issues," he said. "And, after Labor Day," he said, "Libby and I will be campaigning full time.""Libby," his wife, is the the former Libby Reynolds. She has strong family ties in Taylor County. She is the daughter of automobile dealer Ancil Reynolds. The nomination was made by the executive committees of the two parties after Doug Mullins, Campbellsville, withdrew because of health reasons. Fudge was the unanimous winner of the committees, each of which has 20 members. Nineteen members cast weighted votes. Twelve of those voting were from Taylor County, seven from Adair. The 12 Taylor Countians voting were Helen Vaughn, Bryan Bennett, Eddie Rogers, Bobby Kirtley, Red Goff, Susie Skaggs, Jennifer Caulk, Peggy Chewining, Rick Benningfield, John Shipp, Billie Russell, and Nancy McLeaon-Dix. Others eligible to vote were Pam Bennett,Mike Phillips, Lauren Ford,Craig Ford, Sam Cos, Janet Edwards, Lora Bailey, and Allen Newton. The 7 Adair Countians voting were Carl Arnold, Yvonne Arnold, J.M. Shelley, Martha Martin, Billy Bloyd, Evelyn Phelps, and Ben Loy. Others on the Committee weand were eligible to vote were Margie Collins, Charles Barnes, John Campbell, Robin Hancock, Nolan Cole, Cynthia Rowe, Eva Adamson, Alice Gr4aves, Phill Hanna, Richard Walker, and Jack Collins.
