Adair County jobless rate reaches 7.1% for July, 2008 Taylor, Russell, Casey show better employment; Cumberland, Metcalfe, Green worse than Adair Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story and chart Adair County's unemployment rose to 7.1% in July 2007, following a trend in the sate, which is now experiencing 6.8% unemployment, almost a full percent higher than the national 6.0% jobless rate. In Adair and Surrounding Counties, the picture looked like this for July 2008:
Other Lake Cumberland Counties reported for July 2008, are Clinton, with 6.5%; Pulaski with 6.8 %, Wayne with 8.4%, and McCreary, with 9.9%. McCreary's rate is the 113th worst among Kentucky 120 counties. For Adair County, July show an big increase in civilian work force, to 9,148, third highest in the Lake Cumberland ADD. The actual number seeking work and unable to find it were 652. The July report for Adair County was up from 6.3% a year ago, and up from 6.6% in June, 2008.
