Clerk's office receives $40,000 Local Records grant

Adair County Clerk Sheila Blair has received a $40,000 Local Records grant from the Department for Libraries and Archives, an agency of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. The funds will be used to provide an imaging system for the clerk's office.

The Local Records Program is Kentucky's unique approach to assisting local public agencies with the management and protection of their vital records. In addition to its grant program, the Department for Libraries and Archives, through its local records staff, provides professional records management /archival assistance to local public agencies across the state.

To date, 28 local agencies have been awarded a total of $463,312 from Fiscal Year 2009 Local Records Grant Program funds. With this year's grants, more than $15.1 million has been distributed throughout every Kentucky county during the program's 25 year history.
