Obituary: Dorothy Holmes, 65

Mrs. Holmes was a member of a large, respected Northeastern Adair County family. She leaves 21 living descendants. She was a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church and a homemaker

Dorothy Holmes, 65, of 219 Christine Sano Road, Columbia, KY, passed awaySaturday, August 16, 2008 at 6:20am at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital inSomerset, KY.

The funeral service is Monday, August 18, 2008 at 1:00pmCT, at Purdy Separate Baptist Church, with Bro. Jamie Bryant, Bro. David Coffey and Bro. Todd Akin the officiating clergy.



She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen L. Adams Hatfield.

She is survived by her husband Bro. Junior Lee Holmes, of Columbia, KY and the following:
  • Three sons: Doug Holmes and his wife Marissa, Michael Holmes amd his wife Dana, and David Holmes and his wife Sherry, all of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Donna White and her husband Willie. and Susan Tucker and her husband Mathew, all of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Paul Hatfield and Ronnie Hatfield of Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Ruby Holmes of Columbia, KY, and Wanda May of Knifley, KY

  • Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death one brother, Herman Hatfield.

The was a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church and a homemaker.Visitation is after 4:30pmCT, Sunday, August 17, 2008 and after 6:00amCT, Monday, August 18, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg, ST, Columbia, KY, and after 10:00amCT, Monday, August 18, 2008, at the Purdy Separate Baptist Church, 10 miles east of Columbia on KY 206. Interment will be iin the New Hope Cemetery, on KY 206 at Ella, KY.Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
