Richard Robertson plans Mt. Gilead to Bull Run Rd. move

To ColumbiaMagazine:

What a great community resource you have provided. I'm an old fogy, virtual resistant, who has had a past addiction to newspaper reading. You may have alleviated that affliction but substituted another. Every morning, first thing, I click on my favorites and bring up Columbia Magazine.

I have only been around for a year in Green County, but am in the process to moving from an ancestral home area in Mt. Gilead, to another ancestral home area: Bull Run.

I have a huge interest in history and genealogy. I may soon solicit for old photos pertinent to my family history. Of initial interest is a house that used to be present at Joe Barbee's Spring on Bull Run Road.I will live about a half mile from there. My grandparents lived there and possibly also my Dad. My date of reference is the early 30's.

Will it be OK to ask folks for things like this on your venue.

Hopefully, in the future I will be able to make submissions that will be of value to your great magazine.

Best Regards,
Richard Robertson

Thanks. Welcome to Adair County. But don't quit reading the newspapers. We've got great ones here. Not only are there outstanding weekly newspapers, but every other week there's the unique "Just for a Smile News," published by Ralph Roy Waggener, my little brother. With those and two very local radio stations, Columbia may have the best media service anywhere. You certainly know how to pick great places to live: Mt. Gilead and Bull Run are both premier addresses. We welcome your use of ColumbiaMagazine to get information on your ancestral home, and, of course, without submissions from so many gifted writers, ColumbiaMagazine.com wouldn't be what it has become. We look forward to receiving your correspondence. One question you'll need to answer: Are you an "old fogy" or an "Old Fogy"? In higher society circles, Bull Run is international headquarters for the "Right Honorable Society of Old Fogies Paddling, Drinking and Debating Society." Scenic Adair Co., KY: Bull Run Creek Valley from Haven Hill

2008-08-16 - Bull Run Road, KY - Photo By Pen.
NO FAIRER VALLEY EXISTS IN AMERICA than Bull Run Road, a Scenic Adair County Byway. This view is from Haven Hill Cemetery hill, Liberty Road/KY 206. Beautiful homes, neatly tended farm land with interesting farm structures, and Adair County's 1st Quilt barn, make a tourist favorite and very desirable residential address.
