Sandusky St. tree identified as bald cypress About: David Burton's Sandusky Street tree To ColumbiaMagazine.com I believe the trees to be bald cypress. They are one of the most site diverse trees that I know. They will live and thrive from the water covered swamps of the South to high and dry sites all the way to the Canadian Border. They are evergreen to semi-evergreen in the South but in our area they are decidious. Billy Joe Fudge Our thanks to Billy Joe Fudge, retired Kentucky Forester and frequent contributor to ColumbiaMagazine.com. His regular series, "We all live in the forest," now includes six columns. CM enthusiastically supports his idea of volunteers doing an inventory of Columbia's urban forest. -EW This story was posted on 2008-08-16 05:15:30
