Driver falls asleep on LBN; crash injuries require airlift to UK

Occupants entrapped. AC Fire Department and AC EMC extricate driver and passenger. Both airlifted to University of Kentukcy Medical Center, Lexington

The Adair County Sheriff's Department investigate a one-vehicle Crash on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, one mile west of Columbia, KY, today, Monday, August 11, 2008.

Steven Lawson, 18, Corbin, KY, fell asleep, according to the Adair County Sheriff's Department, and his 1997 eastbound Toyota dropped off the road. The operator overcorrected and the vehicle struck a rock wall.



Both the driver and a passenger, Michael Lawson, were entrapped and had to be extricated by Adair County Fire and Adair County EMS personnel. They were transported to Westlake Regional Hospital and then were transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Tracy McCarol, who was assisted by Columbia Police Chief Mark Harris and Columbia Police Officer Jamie Cole.
