An answer to gas question: For MPG, Regular vs. Premium

Comment about: "Does premium gas get better mpg"

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

The answer to this question is no.

No, No, No.

Unless your owner's manual calls for you to use premium gasoline, you should use regular unleaded.

The only benefit you get from using premium is paying more.

Driving at 55 mph gets you better gas mileage than anything. If you are going to idle more than 15 seconds, like at the drive through, shut your vehicle off.

To quash another myth: no you do not use more gas when starting your car.

Even when owners manuals call for you to use premium gas, you can usually use regular unleaded, unless you have a high performance race-car type engine.
