Dog causes Columbia cyclist to crash

POLICE REPORTS

A Columbia, KY, motorcyclist was injured in an crash just past midnight this morning, at 12:15amET, Wednesday morning, August 6, 2008, on US 127 four miles north of Liberty, KY.

William R. Vittitoe, 48, Columbia, KY, was operating a 1986 Kawasaki motorcycle, traveling south on US 127, when a dog crossed in front of him, causing him to strike the dog and then lose control o fhte motorcycle.



The motorcycle crossed the northbound lane, coming to rest in a ditch. The operator was transported by EMS to Casey County HOspital for treatment of minor injuries. He was treated and released.

The incident was investigated by Trooper Wendell Higgenbotham of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.
