    Birds of Kentucky: UFO Duck identified as hen wood duck



    2008-07-22 - Long Run Park - Photo by Pen. Pen spotted this duck swimming in Long Run Park in eastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, but isn't sure of the species and wrote this when it was posted. "I think it might be a Teal. Any identification help will be appreciated." Fortunately, Dr. Roger Smith has now sent positive information.     Adair Search and Rescue gets more training

    Part of the Adair County SAR team has recently completed training in Man Tracking and Inland Water Search Operations. Adair County Emergency Management sponsored the Man Tracking class which had participants from Prestonburg, Hart County, Allen County, Butler County, Breeding Fire Department, and Adair County SAR. Pictured in the left hand middle row shot is Don Franklin (instructor) pointing out tracking signs to look for to Adair SAR team members Marc Evans and Jeff Collins. Some members of the Adair SAR team travel to Allen County where the took a two day Inland Water Search Operation course. This course also had several different counties at it and taught the proper manor an technics to carry on a search for a victim lost in a body of water. In the right hand hand middle row picture, taken at Barren River, are Adair SAR members Glenn Martin, Jeff Collins, and Billy Pickett with a Cumberland County responder.
