Letter: Thanks wonderful Montpelier neighbors

About: Open letter to home invasion robbers

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

My name is Tina Cook I am the young lady who was robbed on 765 Montpelier Rd.

I want to thank each and everyone of my neighbors for the kindness they have showed me and my children.

Words will never be able the express how thankful I am for Jack driving through the neighborhood speaking to neighbors; for Hilda coming to my house to check on me; for Lois wishing she had been home the list goes on on.

I am a survivor.

I first was ready to sell my home and just leave the neighborhood but then I thought, I won't let them them chase me out of a home I have worked so hard to keep. Now, knowing the people in my community are watching helps me to stay.

I thank God that my chidren and me weren't home.

The things stolen are just materials of things I can live without.

The most upsetting thing is the loss of the videotapes of my family; with the camcorder stolen those first steps my son took on tape can't be replaced, but life most go on.

I will pray everynight that I will learn to accept this andnot live in fear of it happening again.

Once again thank you to all the wonderful neighbors in The Montpelier area.

s/Tina
