Roads, Travel

Adair County Road Department maintenance report, July 9, 2008: Judge Melton reports that Second 4 foot course of 300 foot long wall will be poured today, Wednesday, July 9, 2008. The Adair County Road Department is now constructing a 300 ft. retaining wall on the bank of Crocus Creek at Inroad to shore up the Melson Ridge Road from Inroad to Cundiff, Melson Ridge, in District 3 of Adair County. The project is expected to take 45 days. Work started Monday, June 16, 2008. The project is being built with a $92,000 emergency grant from then Gov. Ernie Fletcher. It is the largest stream erosion project in all of Adair County Road Department history, and the largest in recent history since the Yuma Road Project in the last year of the Jerry Vaughan administration. Bridge needs only finish blacktop by Gaddie-Shamrock. Expected to open early week of July 14, 2008! BEAUTIFUL CREEK VIEW, RUSSELL CREEK FROM NEW ROAD EIGHTY BRIDGE:The OC was at the Bridge Sunday, July 13. 2008, and writes, "Well, the fair is gone and this afternoon, the best place to site see was the Hwy 80 bridge. It was being put to use by driving around barricades on both ends. I did see some people go on to town, or come from town and head east toward Ozark, Putman County, and beyond. I walked.
