Hummingbirds are back in Egypt, KY

Hummingbird awaiting turn at feeder

By George Rice, Egypt

After many weeks of waiting for the return of the precious humming birds they are now here in good numbers.

After a late freeze the little birds either froze to death or went back south in search of warmer weather. Some think the early ones died from cold weather and these are young ones coming up from the south.

Humming birds don't like to share their feeders with ants and bees but this one certainly did. When I took the photo, a bee had taken in line ahead of the invited guest!

The little birds are very difficult to photograph but after much stalking a picture was taken and accompanies this story.
