Remembering working with Janice Corbin at Adair Memorial Caring for others came before thought for herself. After working a full shift, she stayed through the night, through a problem delivery. Today this mother gives Janice Corbin credit for saving her then newborn son To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I worked with Janice Corbin for several years at the Adair Memorial Hospital. She was always such a good worker willing to do the best for the patients. Always doing her care with her patients with kindness and the upmost patience with each one. In 1975, I was in the labor room giving birth to my second baby. Janice took excellent care of me her whole shift which was 3pm-11pm. At a little past 11pm she came back to my room. I thought she was just checking in on me before she went home. Instead she put her purse in a chair and told me that she was going to stay with me until the baby was born and it didn't matter how long that was. I told her she didn't have to stay because I knew she was so tired after the eight hour shift she had just finished. But that is just the type person she was. She remained with me until my baby was born the next morning at 6:55am. She was with me in the delivery room also. The baby had a little problem breathing when he was first born, due to such a long labor. She immediately got oxygen on him and worked with him until he turned pink. He was blue when he was born. I give Janice the credit for saving my son. I will never forget her fast response to get him breathing good. She stayed and held him in her arms until almost 10am. She had to be back to work that day at three in the afternoon. Tha's the type person she was. She was more concerned about others than herself. Her entire family has my sincere sympathy and I know she will be greatly missed by so many. She is receiving her reward now.
