    Fun & 42 MPG: 1995 Miata Convertible

2008-07-05 - Downtown, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
ARTHUR RAY HELM a fun ride, a dependable car, and motorcycle range gas mileage. He got it in a 1995 Mazda Miata, which now has only 27,000 miles on it. "The driver's manual says it gets 42 mpg," Mr. Helm said. "Some motorcycles don't get that. I've never checked it, but I don't have to fill it very often." He bargained with the dealer he got it from for over nine months. It's a rule he lives by. "Never get in a hurry to buy a car." It meant an extra $100 per month for each month of haggling, he says. "The price went down by $900 in that time." Helm had the top down for July 5 motoring. Clicking Read More accesses the "Today, July 5, 2008" feature and the July 5, 2008 Today's Picture Album.
