Handsome soldier in back is Adair Countian

2008-06-21 - A very hot place inIraq - Photo From Melissa Taylor album.
MELISSA TAYLOR sent this photo of her favorite Marine's platoon in Iraq, Kris Knight. "You can easily pick him out," she says. "He's the handsome one in the back," and adds, "The arrow might help, too!" She continued, "I don't think I'm supposed to say exactly where it is, but he is somewhere in Iraq and it's really hot! As you can see, the gear that they are required to wear is not exactly your sandy beach attire. They also have very heavy helmets that they must wear much of the time. When I have asked what the actual temperature is he usually just tells me (along with some colorful descriptors that I'll spare you) that they all know it's hot & they don't need to look at a thermometer to tell them that! The dog in the photo is one of several that deployed with their battalion. I forgot his name & rank, but I remember from an earlier picture with one of the other guys, the human Marine was remarking that the dog outranked him! He didn't really mind though - he is a bomb sniffing dog & he is very valuable to the team."Clicking Read More accesses the "Today, Sat. June 21, 2008" feature with "Today's Picture Album."
