Mayor Bell to host groundbreaking for Greenhills project By Cindy Lackey Mayor Patrick R. Bell and the City of Columbia invites the public to celebrate the start of a $1 million sewer project that will serve 85 homes in the Green Hills Subdivision. Septic systems don't work well in the area's soil, so sewer service will bring peace of mind for homeowners and cleaner groundwater for the entire community. On Monday, June 23, 2008 Mayor Pat Bell will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 10amCT. Participants will include representatives of the agencies that contributed funding to the project: Eastern Kentucky PRIDE and the Appalachian Regional Commission. The ceremony will be at the intersection of Green Hill Road and Kassem Road on property owned by Columbia Ready Mix. To reach the site traveling from Exit 49 of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, turn right onto 55 North. At the Public Square, go one-quarter way around the court house, staying on 55 North (Campbellsville Street). At the second traffic light, turn right onto Hwy. 206 (Fairground Street). After driving about 1.5 miles, at a caution light, turn right onto Greenhills Road. After crossing a bridge, watch on the right for the groundbreaking ceremony. From Campbellsville, follow 55 South to the first traffic light in Columbia. Turn left onto Hwy. 206 (Fairground Street).
