Obituary: William (Bill) Knight, 91

COLUMBIAMAGAZINE.COM OBITUARIES

Mr. Knight was head of a large, highly respected Adair County family. He leaves 41 living descendants. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Bearwallow United Methodist Church.

William Bill Knight, age 91 years of the Christine Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 8:15amCT at Summit Manor Health & Rehab Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Friday, June 13, 2008, at 1:00pm CT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Sexton and Rev. Clifton Cowan the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery.



He was born November 14, 1916, the son of the late Lafayette & Julia Burton Knight and was preceded in death by his wife, Cecil Marie Burton Knight, on August 31, 1999

He is survived by he following:
  • Three sons: Donald Knight and his wife Jeanette of Aaron, KY; Ronald Knight and his wife Wanda Jo of Louisville, KY; and William Knight, Jr. and his wife Lana of Columbia, KY

  • Three daughters: Nelda Ferguson of Columbia, KY; Phyllis Fisher and her husband Eddie of Louisvile, KY, and Eileen Bottoms of Antioch, TN

  • Former son-in-law: Bobby Ferguson of Knifley, KY

  • And 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends survive.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Shawn Keith Bottoms. and by three brothers, Edward, Elbert, and Coy Knight; and seven sisters, Ethel Cravens, Ida Grider, Lillie Buescher, Alice Wilson, Elizabeth Brockman, Effie Powell, and Della McQueary

He was a retired farmer and a member of Bearwallow United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST., Columbia, KY.
