Obituary: Clora (Coty) Harvey, 74, member Harrods Fork Baptist

Mrs. Harvey was a member of a highly respected family. She was a wonderful cook. Her faithfulness and way and the way she showed Christian kindness will be long remembered in the Breeding Community. She had retired after a 32 year career at Summit Manor in Columbia, before losing a long bout with cancer.

Clora (Coty) Harvey, 74, of the Breeding Community, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at 4:15am, at her home after a long bout with cancer.

The funeral service will be Sunday, June 8, 2008, at 1:30pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, with Bro. Stoney McKinney and Bro. Darrell Landis officiating.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Inishia Wilson Yarberry and by one brother, Adrian Yarberry.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edro Harvey, Breeding, and the following:
  • One son: Micah (Gayle) Harvey, Breeding, KY

  • One granddaughter: Melissa Harvey

  • One great-grandson: Clayton York, Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Stanford (Pearl) Yarberry, Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Eleveta Sparks, Columbia, KY
  • A sister in law: Bernice Sublett, Louisville, KY
  • And two aunts, as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of friends
Coty, as she was called, professed faith in Christ at age 13. She joined the Church of the Nazarene and later moved her membership to Harrods Ford Baptist Church where she served faithfully as long as her health permitted.

Coty was soft spoken. When asked how she was, she said, "I'll be all right." She was a wonderful cook and took many dishes to the sick and shut-in. She worked at Summit Manor Nursing Home for 32 years.

Burial will be in Harrods Fork Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home on Saturday, June 7, 2008, after 3:00pmCT.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
