Lindsey Wilson Men's Basketball signs McPherson ColumbiaMagazine.com SPORTS New Blue Raider was NJCAA 2nd Team All American By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director The Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team has signed Eric McPherson to a NAIA scholarship, the school announced on Wednesday, June 3, 2008.. McPherson transfers to Lindsey Wilson from Vermilion (MN) Community College where he was a National Junior College Athletic Association Second Team All-American. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 21.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while helping Vermilion to a 21-10 record last season. "Eric is an outstanding young man as well as a very gifted player," Lindsey Wilson men's basketball coach Paul Peck said. "His offensive talents enable him to not only hit the outside shot, but he is strong enough to attack the basket and finish." McPherson connected on 55 percent (259-of-471) of his shots in his sophomore season for Vermilion, including making 48.5 percent (65-of-134) from beyond the three-point arc. He also averaged 3.6 assists per game. McPherson was named the NJCAA Region 13 Player of the Year and was selected as the NJCAA Player of the Week once during the season. Following the season, McPherson scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the NJCAA All-Star game. "In addition to being a terrific scorer, Eric is an outstanding rebounder and distributor of the basketball," Peck said. "Eric is going to have a tremendous career at Lindsey Wilson."
