Cameron Campbell 3rd in the world, Future Problem Solving Adair County High School Academic Team FPS star is one of four Americans who share top five spots to a New Zealander. 2nd year in a row ACHS has won an International 3rd place. Young team mates, Tasha Padgett, Samara Skinner, and Marty Miller attend International, held at Michigan State University yesterday. The ACHS Academic Team closed its year this past weekend similar to the way it closed out last year's record-breaking season. Cameron Campbell finished 3rd in Individual Future Problem Solving at the International Conference at Michigan State University on Sunday. The road to Internationals started when Cameron won the State Championship in March at Governor's Cup. Through a series of competitions worldwide, 52 other Future Problem Solving Program affiliates sent their champions to Michigan State for the International Championship. Competitors qualifying for this year's International Conference ranged from U.S. affiliates to competitors from around the world in countries such as Japan, Australia, Korea, Singapore, Canada, New Zealand, and Malaysia. Cameron's 3rd place finish in the world was among a Top 5 group from Wisconsin (1st), Massachusetts (2nd), Florida (4th), and Auckland, New Zealand (5th). This marks the 2nd year in a row Adair County has earned a trip to compete at the prestigious International Conference and the 2nd year in a row they have walked away with a 3rd place finish. Last year, the entire 4-member team qualified by winning the State Championship and also came home with 3rd place overall honors. Also in attendance were Cameron's teammates who together with Cameron finished 6th overall earlier in the year at State in just their first year together as a team: Tasha Padgett, Samara Skinner, and Marty Miller. All 4 members of the team are Juniors and will return next year.Cameron's parents are John and Shirley Campbell. This story was posted on 2008-06-02 15:50:40
