I am not very knowledgeable about bugs and the like, but for some reason, I thought that might have been some kind of cicada. If you Google "periodical cicada"" in Google some of the results look similar to that critter, to me.

Thanks. The Wikipedia: Periodical Cicada report says the creatures are benign and are sometimes et. The females of the species are meatier, the report says.

JIMMY COX CAPTURED THIS PHENOMENON OF NATURE which is happening now in Adair County. He writes, "These photos of cicadas molting were taken last night, Sunday May 18, 2008, in the trees of the front yard of Kathy and Jimmie Cox located on Greensburg Road in Adair County. Hundreds of these made their way from the ground into the trees just before dark yesterday evening as they began the molting process." Click Here.
