Food: Asian Salad

2008-05-17 - Photo By Pen.
Pen sends the recipe for Asian salad: "Napa cabbage, red peppers, and green onions, dressed with soy sauce, olive and sesame oil, and rice wine vinegar with chopped ginger and garlic. Garnished with sesame seeds and red pepper flakes. Should have had chopped peanuts as well." He suggests it as meal, itself, with the peanuts, or perhaps leave off the nuts if you have a nice pork roast it to go with it.

Insects of Adair Co. KY: The one Anna, Jonathan captured

2008-05-18 - South Columbia, KY - Photo By Doyle Lloyd.
THEY KNOW THEIR BUGS but expert Columbia entomologists Anna Lloyd and Jonathan Melton aren't real sure about this one, and haven't had time to consult with Adair County colleague Dr. Glenn McQuaide. They were trying to figure it out on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, May 17, 2008, when it was a fantastic day to be a kid in Adair County, Kentucky, even if conditions were a bit questionable if you were a bug.

Feeding carp at Holmes Bend dock

2008-05-18 - Holmes Bend Dock - Photo By Linda Waggener.
Green River Lake's carp population doesn't have a lot of fans among fishermen, but they have a great friend in 22-month-old Jalynn Antle, who loves to feed them cat food. The carp gathered for Sunday breakfast with their mouths wide open when the little girl and her mother, Janet Antle, came to feed them this morning, Sunday, May 18, 2008.
