Obituary: Ray Grant, 75, member Cornerstone Church

Mr. Grant was the member of a large, respected South Adair County family; he was a truck driver. He leaves 19 direct descendants.

Ray Grant, 75, 222 Hwy 768 East, Glens Fork Community of Columbia, KY, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Russell County Hospital after several months illness.

The funeral sevice will be Monday, May 19, 2008, at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Luttrell and Rev. Sam Warner the officiating clergy.



He was the son of the late Wellie Vernon and Suzie Blair Grant of Adair County, KY.

He is survived by his wife, Janell Helm Grant, Glens Fork, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: Michael Ray Grant and his wife Sylvia, Columbia, KY; and Mark Lee Grant and his wife Jill, Mt. Washington, KY

  • Four daughters: Joan Knopp and husband Ronnie, Columbia, KY; Gina Grant and husband Doug, Columbia, KY; Robin Grant, Columbia, KY; and Kimberly Franklin and husband William, Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Paul Grant, Lexington, KY; and Jack Grant, Russell Springs, KY

  • Four sisters: Dolly Andrew, Columbia, KY; Mary Hadley, Cundiff, KY; Mae Hadley, Jamestown, KY; and Fay Bradshaw, Columbia, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren: Ashley Adamson, Mandy Grant, Matthew Grant, McKenzie Grant, Treyton Grant, Sarah Grant, Austin Grant, Channing Grant, Shelby Grant, Rachel Grant, and Ian Scott Grant

  • Two great grandchildren: Gracin Adamson and Grant Adamson

  • Two step grandchildren: John and J.J. Knopp
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert "Bud" Grant and by two sisters, Dorothy Gibson and Dimple Grant.

Mr. Grant was a member of the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church and a truck driver.

Interment will be in the Grant Cemetery at Glens Fork, KY.

The family requests visiting after 2:00pmCT on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY.
