Obituary: Marie Franklin, 81

COLUMBIAMAGAZINE.COM OBITUARIES

Mrs. Franklin was the head of a large, respected family. She will be warmly remembered for the great food she cooked at Valley View Restaurant and at Lindsey Wilson College

Marie "Granny" Frankliin, 81, Columbia, KY, died Tuesday, May 13, at 3:58amCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 17, 1008, at 11:00am, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. David Coffey officiating.



A native of Taylor County, KY, she was the daughter of the late George Henry and Daisey Harmon Lee, and was a retired cook after a career at Valley View Restaurant in Cane Valley and at Lindsey Wilson College.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Franklin, on August 12, 1966, and by her two daughters, Annie Mae Horton and Clarice Gean Webster

She is survived by the following:
  • Eight grandchildren and spouses: Larry and Diane Wilson, Greensburg, KY; Sandra Hilger, Columbia, KY; Terry and Vanda Wilson, Campbellsville, KY; Billy and Susan Hooten, Owensboro, KY; Patti and Jimmy Branham, Columbia, KY; Robert and Melissa Horton, Columbia, KY; Betty and Gary Beard, Campbellsville, KY; and Susan and Bruce Horton, Columbia, KY

  • And 14 great grandchildren, 11 step-great grandchildren, and 10 great grand children.
The funeral service will be Saturday, May 17, 1008, at 11:00am, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. David Coffey officiating.

Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, off Liberty RD, near Ella, KY.

Visitation will be after 4:00pmCT, Friday, May 16, 2008, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.

Casket bearers will be Josh Vickers, Wesley Horton, Billy Horton, Terry Wilson, Robert Horton, Jimmy Branham, Bruce Horton, and Larry Wilson.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
