Gas Price Drumbeat: Another view on the price of gas

About:Don't buy gas 2 days a week
To Columbia Magazine.com:
Every morning, I watch CNN and they have a part called "Minding Your Business" where they review the price for gas today, a month ago and a year ago, based on national averages.

For the last couple of weeks, Adair County's price has been 10 cents higher than the national average! I would expect the price to be higher than the national average in places like Louisville or Lexington, but in Columbia?! Something is not right about this...

Maybe we all need to band together and make a trip to Campbellsville or Russell Springs once a week to fill up and quit giving money away here in Columbia, KY.

s/Ashley Thomas

Comment: Maybe. But wouldn't it be better to just sharply curtail driving as Lillie Stephens suggested. Going to Campbellsville or Russell Springs costs money and means more gas use. As for our house, we'll stick with local independent retailers. Hometown businesses such as Lynn's Service Center, for instance, provide so many other important services that we'll stick with them for all our gas purchases, though the cars will have to stay parked a lot more of the time. We'll stay home more, walk more, and ride bicycles more. -EW
