COF reports magnificent red foxes in Knifley area Theirs are more than just beautiful creatures; also serve utilitarian purpose of keeping turkey population in check Comment on Little Foxes of Tabor Photo by Tony Harvey ColumbiaMagazine.com re: your comments to Melissa Taylor on the rarity of Red Foxes in God's county:Up here at Dun Roman we have three foxes tho' only one is what I would call a true Red Fox. He is a large magnificent specimen deep red with a huge bushy dark tail. The other two are smaller and we have presumed they are vixens. One is sorta reddish brown in color but the other one is more of a light tan with large mottled dark patches. We often see them run together or alone from the area of the cave or the pond down in the hollow across either the back or front meadow. From the forensic evidence they seem to be rather adept at holding our large turkey population in check.
