LWC Women's tennis earns 3rd seed in NAIA championships

The Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team is the No. 3 seed in the NAIA National Championships beginning next week in Mobile, AL.



Lindsey Wilson earns one of the eight byes in the 24-team tournament played May 12-16 at the Mobile Tennis Center. The Blue Raiders face a familiar foe in the Tuesday's second round match.

Lindsey Wilson (15-3) faces the winner of Union (KY) College and Georgetown (KY) College at 9amCT on Tuesday, May 13, 2008. The Blue Raiders defeated Union 6-2 on April 2, 2008, and beat Georgetown on three different occasions this season.

Top-seeded and four-time defending champion Auburn University Montgomery (AL) enters the tournament with a 30-0 record. The Lady Senators have ended the Blue Raiders season in the national semifinals each of the last two years.

Lindsey Wilson enters the tournament winners of its last 10 matches, including the Mid-South Conference Tournament and NAIA Region XI titles.

The Blue Raiders are 6-1 this season against the tournament field. Lindsey Wilson lost to AUM while beating Georgetown, Union, Berry (GA) College and Cumberland (TN) University.

The tournament championship match is scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2008.
