Obituary: Walter A. (Jug) Pyles, 84, veteran WWII

OBITUARIES

Mr. Pyles was a member of a large, highly respected Northeast Adair County family. He was attended the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and was an automobile mechanic for many years.

Walter A. (Jug) Pyles, 84, a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 549 Millerfield Road, Columbia, KY, (the Millerfield Community) passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 3:42am at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 3, 2008,, at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. David Coffey officiating.



He was born November 6, 1923, the son of the late Jim and Mae Bryant Pyles of Adair County, KY.He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Belle Hagy Pyles on March 21, 2008.

He is survived by the following:
  • >One daughter: Linda Capps, Shepherdsville, KY

  • Three sons: Ronnie Lee Pyles, Columbia, KY; Kenny Pyles and wife Demaris, Columbia, KY; and Tony Pyles, Erie, MI

  • Three brothers: Rollin Pyles, Columbia, KY; Aaron Pyles, Campbellsville, KY; and Howard Pyles, Cincinnati, OH

  • Three sisters: Altha Burton, Columbia, KY; and Lyla Pyles and Clara Jones, both of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Sara, Rhonda, Tabitha, and Angela and nine great grandchildren

  • And several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by these brothers and sisters: Hobert Pyles, Finis Pyles, Kennith Pyles, James Pyles, Robert Pyles, Claris Pyles, and Bonnie Rice.

Mr. Pyles was an automobile mechanic for many years and attendedd the New Hope Separate Baptist Church. He was a US Army World War II veteran.

Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 6097.

The family requests visiting after 4:00pmCT on Friday, May 2, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.
