Obituary: Oral Thomas, 92, World War II veteran COLUMBIAMAGAZINE.COM OBITUARIES Mr. Thomas was a native of Casey County, and a member of a large, respected family. He was a US Navy Seaman in WWII, a member of New Salem Baptist Church, and was employed by Allied Sash & Door in Louisville, KY Oral Thomas, 92 Cox's Creek, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 4:10amET at the Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, KY, after several months illness. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 11:00amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY, with Rev. Eugene Wilson and Rev. Arlis Luttrell the officiating clergy. Mr. Thomas was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church, a World War II US Navy Seaman Second Class, and was employed by Allied Sash & Door in Louisville, and was a part-time driver for Around the Town Carriage in Bardstown, KY.He was born February 17, 1916, the son of Logan and Lucy Luttrell Thomas of Casey County, KY, who preceded hm in death.He was preceded in death by two sons, Dale Thomas and Doc Thomas; four brothers, Ernest Luttrell and Otis Thomas, and by two infant brothers. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Lay and Bessie Pettyjohn.Survivors include his loving and caring wife of 45 years, Helen Frankum Thomas of Cox's Creek; KY, and the following:
