LWC Men's Basketball signs Lincoln County standout Ryan Whiite was named 12th Region Player of the Year and earned all-state honors. New Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raider is a star in the classroom, as well, with 4.0 GPA With one photo By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director The Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team has signed Ryan Young to a NAIA scholarship, the school announced on Friday, April 18, 2008. "Ryan is a great team player with the ability to control the game without scoring by making his teammates better," Lindsey Wilson men's basketball coach Paul Peck said. "Ryan comes from one of the best high school programs in the state and he's learned from one of the best high school coaches in Coach Jackson." Young, a 6-foot-1 guard, averaged 19 points and 6.1 assists per game last season as he helped lead Lincoln County High to a 27-6 record and a 12th Region championship. "Lindsey Wilson is a great place for me to earn my degree and compete on the basketball court in the most competitive conference in the NAIA," Young said. "Ultimately, I hope to excel in the classroom and help Lindsey Wilson win a national championship." The Stanford, KY, native, earned 12th Region Player of the Year and all-state honors this season while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. "Ryan is an excellent student and an even better person," Peck said. "We're excited about his addition to our program and expect him to have a great career at Lindsey Wilson College." The Blue Raiders finished the 2007-08 season with a 16-15 record. This story was posted on 2008-04-18 18:50:37
