AC PRIDE 2008 Clean Up Day, April 12 Photo Album

The Adair County PRIDE Cleanup Day and picnic at Mt. Carmel Boat Ramp Park was the biggest such event in Adair County History.

Figures will be tallied on the event tomorrow and will be posted on ColumbiaMagazine.com.

A large number of photos from the event have now been posted, and this article is is posted to make it easy to find them all at one time.



We invited groups to add photos and information to the collection, particularly of groups, and of roadside cleanups, and particularly of photos from Breeding and Knifley.

BIG DAY IS UNDERWAY Adair County Judge Ann Melton is welcoming participants in the Big Adair County county-wide clean up today. At a little after seven this morning, Saturday, April 12, 2008, most of the Adair County CJE office staff and Road Department was present. Behind Ann, above is the long table laden with T-shirts for volunteers and a kick-off breakfast. Temperatures were in the mid-40's, but the day is sunny shiny and bright. Sign-ins will continue until 9:00am this morning. Behind the CJE are, left, Adair County Road Department Superintendent Jobe Darnell, and right, in the red ACRD volunteer's T, Donnie Melson. Also far down the table, right, is Seventh District Magistrate Terry Hadley.

AC PRIDE 2008 Spring Cleanup: ACMS Baseball Team

This was the Adair County Middle School Baseball team which picked up roadside trash to help pay for new uniforms this year. First row: Julie Brockman and Derek Brockman.Second row Angie Hixson, Blake Cowan, Jamian Bailey, Brandon Thompson, Cody Antone, Will Hixson, and Amy Thompson. Back row Chris Reeder, Justin Reeder, Barry Hixson. The team cleaned up about six miles of roadway, earning approximately $300 which will help for for uniforms.

The SPIRITUAL LEADER of the PRIDE movement in Adair County, A.L. Sinclair, in a thoughtful mood at the PRIDE picnic at Mt. Carmel Boat Ramp Park today. Sinclair, now Adair County Solid Waste Coordinator, was able to see decades of effort show tremendous results in Adair County, particularly in the area he's sought to instill: Public consciousness of the environment in Adair County.

AC PRIDE 2008: Master Chef samples his wares

JOHNNY JONES was a very popular man at the 2008 AC PRIDE cleanup picnic. He furnished the mobile cooker and cooked over 200 hamburgers. In addition he gave a $20 prize to one of the lucky cleanup participants. At right, the slogan of this year's cleanup, emblazoned on the backs of the Adair County Road Department's distinctive red AC PRIDE 2008 red shirts.

TAKING THE COOKING OF EVERY SINGLE ONE of the over 200 hotdogs he grilled very seriously, Master Hotdog Chef Billy Cowan for the day at the AC PRIDE Cleanup Day Picnic. In real life, Cowan is an employee for the pride of Fiscal Court, the Adair County Road Department.
