Columbia Woman arrested for shoplifting in Campbellsville

Also charged with assault of policeman, wanton endangerment for alledgedly trying to hit officer with her car. Tia LaWanda Watt lodged in Marion Detention Center

A Columbia woman is facing charges after allegedly shoplifting then assaulting a Campbellsville Police Officer with her car.

Campbellsville Police responded to the report of a shoplifter at a store in Green River Plaza around 2:15pmET, Tuesday afternoon, March 25, 2008, and stopped a vehicle driven by 29-year old Tia LaWanda Watt.



While speaking with Watt, she attempted to flee and struck Officer Ben Riggs with her vehicle, knocking Riggs to the ground.

Watt was stooped a short time later on KY 55. She was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $300, assault of a police officer, three counts of wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police and lodged in the Marion County Detention Center.

Officer Riggs was treated and released at Taylor Regional Hospital.
