ACHS Cheerleaders win the top CANAM national award Squad gets top national award, "Editor's Choice." Breanna Meeks wins a National First for junior cheerleader. Taylor Smith wins 1st Runner Up for seniors. And the Fans and Parents from Adair County are in Top Two in Nation in "CANAM Crazies." With several photos By Michelle Lewis The Adair County High School Cheerleaders returned home Monday afternoon, March 17, 2008, from CANAM ( pronounced "Can-am") Nationals at Myrtle Beach, SC. The cheerleaders won the final award of the CANAM competition. Tis award was given to only one squad out of 251 at the competition. "The Editor's Choice Award" from the American Cheerleader Magazine. "This was the biggest," Coach Julie McQueary said, "when CANAM and American Cheerleader magazine made the announcement that we had won this award." This award recognizes Leadership, Sportsmanship, Technique, and Showmanship. It is an award for Cheerleaders who have a love and passion for cheerleading, both on and off the floor. The ACHS cheerleaders will be recognized with pictures in the American Cheerleader magazine for this prestigious award. Also, the ACHS cheerleaders placed 3rd runner up in the Super Large Varsity Division. In the junior individual division, Breanna Meeks placed first with a score of 258.
