New raptor sighting in Adair County: Harrier Hawk By Billy Joe Fudge I have attached a link to a raptor that I had never seen before until last Thursday, March 13, 2008, and this morning, March 17, 2008. Apparently the Northern Harrier is a unique hawkbecause ithunts by using its hearing. This is what caught my attention both times I have seen it. It washunting bysoaring into the breeze about 2 to 3 feet above the ground. After researching the species, I know why it was hunting in this fashion. It is gray onits back and the top of its head. Wing tips are black both on the top and the bottom. Harrier Hawk at WhatBird.com. This story was posted on 2008-03-17 16:44:56
