Jaycees offer $500 community service scholarship

ACHS seniors have until March 31, 2008, to enter

The Adair County Jaycees will be giving away a$500 scholarship to a ACHS Senior this year.

The application/requirements information is below. The deadline to submit application is March 31, 2008.



Theinformation can also be picked up from the High School Guidance Councillor.

This money will go directly to the student this fall, just before college is scheduled to start and may be use to purchase any item for college or they may apply it toward their tuition.

Adair County Jayees Community Service Scholarship

The Adair County Chamber of Jaycees, found on the basis that community service is vital to the health of every community, wishes to honor an Adair County High School senior who has demonstrated a passion and commitment for volunteering his/her valuable time in the service of his/her community with a one time $500 scholarship to a a college/university of his/her choice. The criteria for this scholarship are as follows:
  1. The student must submit an essay to the Adair County Jaycees detailing the student's comunity service along with why community service is of importance to the student.

  2. The esay may be no more than 3 typed pages, along with a cover page containing student's name, address, and phone number

  3. The student must provide a contact person or reference for each orgainiztion with which they volunteered.

  4. A committee formed by the Jaycees will review all essays and award the winning student with a $500 scholarship to the college/university of his/her choice.

  5. Essays must be submitted by March 31, 2007. They may be turned in at Thomas Photography on Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY, or to Grimsley Jewelry, Public Square, Downtown Columbia, KY.
