LWC Baseball sweeps Brescia 20-4, 13-3 at Raider Field! By Chris Wells, LWC Director of Sports Information COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team pounded out 29 hits in today's doubleheader to sweep visiting Bresica (KY) University at Raider Field. The Blue Raiders improve to 10-6 on the season with the 20-4 and 13-3 wins. Brescia falls to 3-14 on the season with the losses. In the first game, sophomore Shane Finley hit his first home run of the season and drove in five runs in the Blue Raiders' 20-4 five-inning win. Junior Daniel Eck connected on his third home run of the season, going 2-for-2 in game one with 2 RBIs. He also reached base after being hit by the pitch twice. Freshman Joseph Willis and sophomore Zach Pritchard each drove in three runs in the win. Freshman starter Julio Torres earned the controlled start win allowing three runs on six hits in four innings of work. Sophomore Nathan Smith finished the game with a perfect fifth inning. In game two, Willis continued to swing a hot bat with three more hits, including his second home run of the season in a 13-3 win. Willis added five RBIs and three runs to his second game stat line and raised his team-leading batting average to .477 on the season. Junior Nathan Bray went 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of RBIs and Eck hit his second home run of the day and his team-leading fourth of the season in the win. Sophomore David Pis earned the win while allowing two earned runs on three hits in four innings of work. Sophomore Cory Collier finished the game retiring three of four batters in the top of the fifth inning. Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Friday, March 14, as the Blue Raiders open their Mid-South Conference schedule with a doubleheader at Campbellsville (KY) University.
