By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs

More than two dozen Lindsey Wilson College education students participated in "Read Across Adair County," held Monday at Adair County Elementary School.

The students read classic children's books to Adair County schoolchildren and also performed skits inspired by fairy tales and children's stories.

The event was attended by more than 1,000 Adair County schoolchildren and family members from Adair County Elementary School, Colonel William Casey Elementary School, John Adair Intermediate School and John Adair Middle School.

In addition to story time, the night included a pizza party, free prizes and awards that were presented to the top readers in respective schools.

This was the seventh consecutive year "Read Across Adair County" has been held. "Read Across Adair County coincided with "Read Across America."

The annual nationwide day is held each March near the March 2 birthday of the late Theodor Seuss Geisel, the American writer and cartoonist who produced children's books under the pen name Dr. Seuss.
