Scenic Adair Co., KY: Sunrise, Christian Church steeple, LWC

2008-03-03 - Columbia, KY - Photo By Pen.
SUNRISES THESE SPRING LIKE DAYS have been spectacular. This scene, with the cross of the Columbia Christian Church steeple in the foreground, right, and Begley Chapel's crown backlit by a sunrise from over Garlin is from Saturday morning, March 1, 2008. On the ground, in person, a difficult to photograph but easy to perceive trinity can be seen by panning right, to bring the chapel, the steeple, and the Lindsey Hill water tower into view.

HEY LOOK! THE DAFFODILS ARE BOOMING! "Legend tells that the wild daffodils open their first blooms on the 1st of March I found these in full bloom on Sunday March 2nd," Barbara Armitage writes from Tucker's Station on Bull Run. "I cant help but wonder if they were booming on Saturday and how would Mother Nature know that we had designated this year as leap year?"

Birds of Kentucky: American Robin

2008-03-03 - Adair County, KY - Photo By Pen.
COCKY ROBIN: American Robins as a species are very common, especially now that the Back Yard Bird Count is over. This one, struck us as a bit uncommon individual, with an aura of command like a robin Zubin Mehta before a ghost orchestra or maybe bird General Patton taking command of an imaginary army.
